Sandrone teams without Odette: choose the missing role

By DayOneFix Editorial · August 12, 2026

Sandrone can enable Stellar-Conduct without Odette. Her official Luna VIII introduction establishes that role. Cryo Traveler is therefore not required solely to provide a reaction entry point. The useful question is which contribution your remaining slots need to replace.

We have not tested these teams in-game.

What removing Odette changes

The 7.0 role descriptions identify sustained Cryo application, off-field Stellar Glimmer damage and a party Stellar Glimmer damage increase as Odette’s contributions. Another Cryo character does not automatically replace all three.

Cryo Traveler’s official description supports off-field and quick-swap damage, plus reaction conversion. It does not establish equal application uptime or equal team buffs.

Pick a candidate for the missing role

Editorial starting point, based on official roles: check whether your remaining teammates supply Electro and survivability. If you own Alyosha, consider him for Electro damage and healing; if you need a shield, consider Diona. Cryo Traveler is an off-field or quick-swap damage candidate. Then check how those roles fit your rotation. This is a role-selection approach, not a ranking or a claim of equivalent replacements.

Check enhancements before comparing Diona or Qiqi. Luna VIII lists both in the Witch’s Revelation system. The notice describes completing the relevant Prologue and guidance quests and reaching character level 70 to unveil a revelation. Verify that the enhancement is actually unlocked on your account; ownership alone is not enough. For an already-built Qiqi, the 7.1 notice records a fix to intermittent failure of her additional talent’s Skill cooldown reduction. That fix alone does not establish her as an Odette substitute.

Compare a full rotation, not one hit

The official Luna VIII description explains that Cryo/Electro hits charge the Polestar Field, which releases Stellar-Conduct damage every four seconds. That interval does not establish an application threshold, required hit count or a substitute’s coverage. Compare a full rotation rather than one damage screenshot.

Use the following comparison procedure:

  1. Record levels, talents, constellations, weapons, artifacts and revelation unlocks. Keep the other three slots unchanged when comparing the last slot.
  2. Confirm reaction access separately from elemental contact during Sandrone’s field time.
  3. Repeat against the same target. Note movement out of skill areas, interruptions and whether support skills return when needed.
  4. Check a second rotation: a full-energy opening can hide a later energy or sustain problem.
  5. Choose for the observed failure. Inspect shield coverage if interrupted, or range and timing if elemental contact stops. Do not attribute a faster clear to one character when stage buffs or equipment also changed.

The 7.1 notice schedules an Abyss update for 16 October, so record the stage and date as well as the roster.

If you have Odette but not Sandrone

Odette’s official introduction establishes that she herself enables Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl, so Sandrone is not required to unlock either reaction. Distinguish the Cryo/Electro route from the Cryo/Anemo route; this establishes the reaction direction, not a best four-character roster.

Equipment checks

The 7.0 notice specifies that multiple Heart of the Furnace sets do not stack their party Stellar Glimmer reaction damage bonus. A second wearer does not provide a second copy of that bonus. Check who can trigger it before choosing equipment for the second wearer.

The earlier numerical ATK-buff thresholds are unsupported by the sources reviewed here and are withdrawn. Check the current talent description before planning around a threshold.

FAQ

What is the best Sandrone team without Odette?
Start by checking Electro and survivability in the remaining slots. Owned Alyosha can cover Electro damage and healing; Diona is a shield candidate and Cryo Traveler an off-field/quick-swap candidate. The best complete team is not established here.

Is Cryo Traveler a direct replacement for Odette?
Consider Cryo Traveler when you need off-field or quick-swap damage, then check the rotation. Those roles do not prove equal sustained Cryo application or equal party buffs.

Should I use Diona or Qiqi?
If you need a shield, Diona has a documented shield role. Check her enhancement unlock before comparing. Qiqi’s cooldown-effect fix alone is not enough to recommend her as an Odette substitute.

Does no Odette mean free-to-play?
No. It describes a missing character, not how the remaining characters were acquired.

Version check, 15 October 2026: the latest release notice in the official notice feed checked for this revision is Version 7.1. Its known-issues post includes updates through 9 October. Older notices below establish release-era roles, not a new performance benchmark.

Correction: earlier free-roster, percentage-equivalence, best-team and ATK-threshold claims are withdrawn.
